There’s something new to the Manitowoc County Fair, the Second Annual Woman’s Day Event with focus on the Hunger Task Force, Homeless in Manitowoc County and the Foster Families program sponsored by Community First Credit Union.
We’re celebrating today’s woman with motivation, information, and entertainment on Saturday, August 27, in the Ice Center on the fair grounds.
The first 200 women ages 18 and up will receive a free gift bag, and door prizes will be given through out the event, and it is all free!
Amber Daugs- CEO and founder of “Grow It Forward” program director, educator and manager in urban agriculture and farm to school education. Grow It Forward, a non-profit organization on a mission to reduce food insecurity within the city of Manitowoc by providing access to good food along with opportunities to grow, cook, share and advocate for it.
And there’s more! The doors will open at 9am to the Ice Center, but before you get a comfortable seat and your free gift bag, take an opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award on the Manitowoc County Fair Quilt Block Contest. A Patch Lakeshore Quilters Guild will have the blocks on display, and these blocks will be made into a quilt, the theme “Summer Nights and Carnival Lights”. The quilt will be raffled off at next year’s event with proceeds going to charity. Winners and awards will be announced at the end of the program.
Look inside your free gift bag for your entry for door prizes, but you must be present to win.
