Persons turning themselves in before 0800 will have bail hearing that day, after 0800 your bail hearing will take place the following day.
Persons brought in on new charges or warrants will make a bail hearing via video at 12:45 pm the next business day following their arrest. The public may view the bail hearings from Room B-15 in the basement of the Manitowoc County Courthouse, 1010 South 8th Street.
For those inmates that do not have their own attorney for their bail hearing, the State Public Defender may represent them in court. The courts will provide an interpreter if they do not speak English.
If the court grants an inmates release, this process will only begin once all bail hearings are completed for that day. The Clerk of Court has to complete all release paperwork, and review it with the inmate(s) getting released. The jail priorities and staffing will also play a part in the timeliness of their release. Do Not Call the jail after the bail hearing to find out if or when an inmate is to be released.
Jail uniforms will be worn for court appearances except for jury trials then dress clothes will be worn.
Inmates, family, or friends are not allowed to pass things to each other during court. Visitation with the inmate shall not take place during the court hearing.
