Civil Process
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office can serve documents related to legal matters. Please send 2 copies of your documents and complete the Information Sheet. A $60 deposit per person is required. Civil process should be mailed to:

Inmates may be served by sending 2 copies of the documents and the $60 deposit. Documents for State inmates must be sent through the Department of Corrections.
How do I evict someone? The eviction process is explained in the Writ of Restitution Information Guide. A Bond of Indemnity may be required. You will be asked to complete the Writ of Restitution Property Memo prior to eviction.
Sheriff’s Sales may be scheduled with the Civil Process Division. Sheriff’s Sales are posted in the lobby at the Sheriff’s Office, on our website, and in the town or municipality where the property is located. Plaintiffs may fax the opening bid on their letterhead to (920)683-4342 the day before the sale.
Sheriff’s Sales (as a result of foreclosure) are conducted in the Rotunda of the Manitowoc County Courthouse, 1010 S 8th St., Manitowoc. All sales start at 9:30 am.
Successful bidders are required to have 10% of their bid in cash, money order or certified check at the time of the sale made payable to the Clerk of Court. Personal checks will not be accepted. The balance of the successful bid must be paid to the Clerk of Court no later than 10 days after the courts confirmation of the sale or else the 10% down payment is forfeited to the plaintiff. The successful bidder is also responsible for all legal liens, encumbrances, and unpaid real estate taxes. All property is sold “as is”. The Sheriff’s Office has no knowledge of or access to the property. Sales are subject to cancellation without notice.
