| Cremation Services | |
| Cremation services are arranged with the Funeral Director. The Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office issues permits to Funeral Directors for cremation. A permit for cremation is required in Wisconsin before cremation can take place. There is a mandatory 48 hour waiting period from the pronounced time of death before cremation can take place. | |
| Death Investigation | |
| The Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office provides timely, accurate and legally defensible determinations as to the Manner and Cause of death per Wisconsin Statute 979. | |
| Disinterments | |
| The Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office issues permits for disinterments. Following the accurate completion of the disinterment application form, approval is granted for disinterment. There is a fee for this service. | |
| Donations to Medical Science | |
| The Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office releases the remains of those individuals wishing to donate their bodies to medical science. | |

| Organ & Tissue Donation | |
| In some cases the Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office releases the remains of those individuals who wish to donate organs and tissues to a procurement organization. Cases of criminal, legal or evidentiary necessity may require us to hold remains in custody. | |
