County Executive
Manitowoc County is organized under a County Executive form of government. The County Executive is the chief elected official for the county, elected to a four-year term of office.
The County Executive is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of the administrative and managerial functions of the county. Major responsibilities include budget preparation, approval or veto of County Board resolutions, and general administration of county departments and services. The County Executive appoints the heads of all county departments with the exception of elected offices. Additionally, the Executive appoints members to numerous boards and committees, subject to County Board approval.
