Park and Open Space Story Map
The Manitowoc County Parks promotes the health and well-being of our community by offering a great diversity of geographical landscape opportunities. The parks provide an interaction of people and the environment, promoting citizen involvement and a strong sense of community. We are facilitating recreational opportunities, meeting the needs of our current and future generations in a manner which is accessible to all while preserving and protecting the County’s open space, water, historical, cultural, and natural resources now and into the future.
The Manitowoc County Planning and Park Commission maintains a total of five major parks, four special purpose parks, 15 lake/river accesses and 1 recreational trail throughout the County. These parks serve an immediate function for our community and those who visit and study nature and the outdoors. We offer highly developed municipal parks, to state and national forests and reserves, ranging from the secluded shores of Lake Michigan to rugged Kettle moraine, swamps, karst, and caves. The multi-purpose recreational trail provides a nature enriched experience to safely run, walk, bicycle, and snowmobile. The lake and river accesses provide the general public with opportunities for fishing, boating, and photography.
